What Is Oseni?
Oseni (alogliptin-pioglitazone) is a prescription medication used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It works by combining a DPP-4 inhibitor (alogliptin) that increases insulin release in response to meals with a thiazolidinedione (pioglitazone) that reduces insulin resistance in muscle, fat, and liver tissue. With the right dose and ongoing monitoring, Oseni can help patients achieve meaningful reductions in HbA1c as part of a broader diabetes care plan that includes diet and exercise.

Is Online Oseni Treatment Right for You?
Doctronic can evaluate adults with type 2 diabetes who are not adequately controlled on diet and exercise alone, or who are already taking alogliptin and pioglitazone as separate pills and wish to simplify their regimen with Oseni. Candidates typically have documented elevated HbA1c and no contraindications such as symptomatic heart failure, active bladder cancer, or severe hepatic impairment.
Because pioglitazone can cause fluid retention and is associated with cardiovascular and hepatic effects, a review of your cardiac history, kidney function, and liver health is an important part of the prescribing evaluation. Our licensed physicians assess your full medical history before recommending Oseni or an appropriate alternative.

Frequently asked questions
Oseni is a once-daily prescription tablet that combines alogliptin and pioglitazone. Alogliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps the pancreas release more insulin after meals by blocking the breakdown of incretin hormones. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione that makes the body's cells more sensitive to insulin. Together, they target blood sugar from two directions.
Oseni is not appropriate for people with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, symptomatic or New York Heart Association Class III or IV heart failure, active bladder cancer, or a known hypersensitivity to alogliptin or pioglitazone. People with significant liver disease or a history of bladder cancer should discuss risks carefully with their physician.
Common side effects include upper respiratory tract infections, nasopharyngitis, headache, and fluid retention (edema). Pioglitazone can cause or worsen heart failure through fluid retention, so any sudden weight gain, swelling of the legs, or shortness of breath should be reported to a physician promptly.
Oseni alone has a low risk of causing hypoglycemia. However, the risk increases if it is used alongside insulin or a sulfonylurea. If combined with these agents, a dose reduction of the insulin or sulfonylurea may be needed.
The alogliptin component begins working within hours of the first dose, and meaningful HbA1c reductions are typically seen within 4 to 8 weeks. Pioglitazone may take several weeks to months to show its full insulin-sensitizing effect. HbA1c is usually rechecked after 3 months to assess response.
Yes. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and HbA1c is recommended. Liver function tests should be checked if symptoms of liver problems develop. Patients should also be monitored for signs of heart failure, edema, and bone fracture risk, particularly in women, as pioglitazone has been associated with an increased risk of fractures in female patients.
