What Is Breo Ellipta?

Breo Ellipta (fluticasone furoate + vilanterol) is a prescription medication used to manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It works by combining an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation with a long-acting beta-2 agonist that relaxes and widens the airways to make breathing easier. With the right dose and ongoing monitoring, most patients experience meaningful improvement in airflow and a reduction in the frequency of COPD exacerbations.

Is Online Breo Ellipta Treatment Right for You?

Doctronic can evaluate you for Breo Ellipta if you have a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COPD, including chronic bronchitis or emphysema, and are experiencing ongoing breathing difficulties, reduced exercise tolerance, or frequent exacerbations despite other treatments.

Because Breo Ellipta acts directly on the lungs and airways, your physician will review your respiratory history, spirometry results if available, current inhaler use, and any cardiovascular conditions before recommending this medication.

Frequently asked questions

Breo Ellipta is approved for the long-term maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in adults with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used for sudden breathing problems.

Breo Ellipta contains two active ingredients. Fluticasone furoate is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, and vilanterol is a long-acting beta-2 agonist that relaxes the muscles around the airways to help keep them open. Together they provide 24-hour bronchodilation and anti-inflammatory action with a single daily inhalation.

Open the cover of the inhaler, slide the lever to load a dose, breathe out fully away from the inhaler, place the mouthpiece in your mouth, and inhale deeply and steadily. Hold your breath for about 3 to 4 seconds, then exhale. Use it at the same time each day. Never exhale into the device or wash the mouthpiece with water.

Common side effects include headache, upper respiratory tract infection, oral candidiasis (thrush), and back pain. Rinsing your mouth with water after each use can help prevent thrush. Contact your doctor if you notice worsening breathing, increased heart rate, or signs of adrenal suppression such as unusual fatigue.

Breo Ellipta is also FDA-approved for asthma in patients 18 years and older, though the asthma indication uses a different strength than the COPD indication. A physician will determine the correct indication and dose for your situation during your evaluation.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole can increase fluticasone exposure. Beta-blockers may reduce the bronchodilator effect of vilanterol. Patients with severe cardiovascular disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, or urinary retention should discuss these conditions with their physician before starting Breo Ellipta.

Doctronic uses an AI-powered evaluation to collect your symptoms and medical history, which is then reviewed by a licensed physician. The physician determines the appropriate treatment plan, which can include a prescription sent directly to your pharmacy, all without an in-person visit.
