What Is Azopt?
Azopt (brinzolamide) is a prescription medication used to manage elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase II in the eye, reducing the production of aqueous humor and thereby lowering intraocular pressure. With the right dose and ongoing monitoring, Azopt can help protect the optic nerve and preserve long-term vision.

Is Online Azopt Treatment Right for You?
Azopt may be appropriate for adults diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who need prescription therapy to lower intraocular pressure. Your Doctronic physician will review your diagnosis, current eye pressure readings, and any prior treatments before prescribing.
Because Azopt contains a sulfonamide-derived compound, your provider will also review your allergy history and any existing kidney, liver, or corneal conditions to ensure it is safe for you.

Frequently asked questions
Azopt (brinzolamide 1% ophthalmic suspension) is prescribed to lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Uncontrolled high IOP can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss over time.
Azopt inhibits carbonic anhydrase II, an enzyme found in the ciliary processes of the eye. By blocking this enzyme, Azopt reduces the production of aqueous humor, which in turn lowers intraocular pressure.
Shake the bottle well before each use. Instill one drop into the affected eye or eyes three times daily. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and apply the drop without letting the tip touch your eye or any surface. Wait at least 10 minutes before using any other eye drops.
The most common side effects include temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation, eye discomfort or stinging, a bitter or unusual taste in the mouth, and dry eye. These effects are generally mild and brief. Contact your provider if side effects are severe or persistent.
Azopt contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses. You should remove soft contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Ask your physician if you have concerns about long-term contact lens use with Azopt.
Azopt is a sulfonamide-derived drug, so it should be used with caution in patients with a history of sulfonamide allergy, significant kidney or liver impairment, or severe corneal disease. Taking oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors at the same time may increase the risk of side effects, as the effects can be additive. Always disclose all medications and medical history to your provider.
