What Is Avelox?
Avelox (moxifloxacin) is a prescription medication used to manage bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, and acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication and repair, effectively stopping bacterial growth. With the right dose and ongoing monitoring, most patients experience significant improvement within the prescribed course of treatment.

Is Online Avelox Treatment Right for You?
Avelox (moxifloxacin) may be appropriate for adults who have been diagnosed with, or have symptoms consistent with, a susceptible bacterial infection such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, or acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. A physician will review your symptoms, medical history, and any recent lab or imaging results to determine whether Avelox is the right choice for you.
Because fluoroquinolones can affect the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, your provider will ask about any history of tendon disorders, peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, or QT prolongation before prescribing. Patients with a known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones are not candidates for this medication.

Frequently asked questions
Avelox (moxifloxacin) is FDA-approved to treat community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, and acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis caused by susceptible organisms. It is also approved for skin and skin-structure infections and complicated intra-abdominal infections in certain clinical settings.
Avelox is typically taken once daily, with or without food, for a duration that depends on the specific infection being treated. Community-acquired pneumonia is usually treated for 7 to 14 days, acute bacterial sinusitis for 10 days, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis for 5 days. Always complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better early.
The most commonly reported side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and headache. More serious but less common risks include tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, QT interval prolongation, and central nervous system effects. Contact your provider promptly if you experience tendon pain, irregular heartbeat, or numbness.
Avelox should not be used by patients with a known allergy to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones. It is also avoided in patients with myasthenia gravis, a history of QT prolongation, uncorrected electrolyte imbalances, or concurrent use of other QT-prolonging medications. Your physician will review your complete history before prescribing.
Avelox can interact with antacids, multivitamins, or supplements containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, or zinc, which can reduce its absorption. It should be taken at least 4 hours before or 8 hours after such products. It may also interact with medications that prolong the QT interval. Always share your full medication list with your physician.
Fluoroquinolones, including moxifloxacin, are generally not recommended during pregnancy due to potential risks to fetal cartilage development. Moxifloxacin is also not recommended while breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or nursing, let your provider know so an appropriate alternative antibiotic can be considered.
Doctronic uses AI-powered evaluation to gather your symptoms and medical history, which is then reviewed by a licensed physician. If a prescription is appropriate, your doctor creates a personalized treatment plan and sends it directly to your preferred pharmacy.
