Does Zepbound Cause Joint Pain?

Andre Stone | MD

Medically reviewed by Andre Stone | MD, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine on August 25th, 2026.

Joint pain is not listed among the common side effects of Zepbound, and current clinical-trial data do not clearly show that Zepbound causes it. Some people may nevertheless experience joint or muscle pain while taking the medication. The most frequent side effects are gastrointestinal, including nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. Rates vary by symptom and dose, and these effects often occur during dose increases and may lessen over time. Joint pain during treatment may have many causes, including changes in activity, an injury, or an unrelated health condition. If you experience persistent or severe joint pain while taking Zepbound, contact your healthcare provider to determine if it's medication-related or due to other factors.
