Most people can continue exercising while taking medicines such as Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro, although the safest routine depends on your health, current fitness, and medication side effects. Ask your healthcare provider before starting or substantially increasing exercise if you have medical limitations or significant symptoms. Regular activity can support weight management, fitness, and overall health while you take these medications, but the amount of additional weight loss varies among individuals. Start slowly if you're new to exercise, as GLP-1s can initially cause nausea or fatigue. Focus on moderate activities like walking, swimming, or light strength training for 150 minutes per week. Listen to your body and adjust intensity based on how you feel. Stop exercising and contact your healthcare provider if nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, or fatigue persists. Seek prompt medical care for severe symptoms, such as fainting or severe abdominal pain. If you also use insulin or certain other diabetes medicines, ask your healthcare provider whether you need to monitor for low blood sugar around exercise.
