What Color is Your Pee When You Have a UTI?

UTI urine typically appears cloudy, dark yellow, or may contain visible blood that creates a pink or red tint. Normal urine ranges from pale yellow to amber, but urinary tract infections cause inflammation that releases white blood cells, bacteria, and sometimes red blood cells into urine. This creates the characteristic cloudy appearance and darker coloration. Blood in urine (hematuria) occurs in about 40-60% of UTI cases, ranging from microscopic amounts to visible pink streaks. Other visual signs include unusual sediment or a strong, foul odor that accompanies the color changes.
