What Causes a Rash Under Your Breasts?

Under-breast rashes typically result from moisture, friction, and bacterial or fungal overgrowth in the warm, dark area beneath breasts. The most common cause is intertrigo, a skin condition affecting up to 20% of adults in skin fold areas. Heat rash, contact dermatitis from bras or detergents, and yeast infections like candidiasis also frequently occur. Poor ventilation, excessive sweating, and ill-fitting bras create ideal conditions for irritation. Diabetes, obesity, and compromised immune systems increase risk. Symptoms include redness, itching, burning, and sometimes foul odor or discharge.
