No, you should not take naproxen and ibuprofen on the same day unless specifically directed by a healthcare provider. Both medications belong to the same class of drugs called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and work similarly to reduce pain and inflammation. Taking them together significantly increases your risk of serious side effects, including stomach ulcers, kidney damage, and cardiovascular complications. The FDA warns that combining NSAIDs can increase gastrointestinal bleeding risk by up to 15 times. If one NSAID isn't providing adequate pain relief, consult your doctor about alternative options or adjusting dosages rather than adding a second NSAID. Space them at least 24 hours apart if switching between medications.
