Can You Eat Grapefruit While Taking Losartan?
Medically reviewed by Andre Stone | MD, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine on August 25th, 2026.
Grapefruit is not generally considered to cause a major interaction with losartan, but evidence is limited and grapefruit juice may affect how losartan is converted to its active form. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist before consuming grapefruit regularly, especially if your blood pressure is not well controlled. Grapefruit can interact with some calcium channel blockers, but the effect varies by medication and is generally much smaller with amlodipine than with certain others. However, you should still maintain consistent dietary habits and monitor your blood pressure regularly, as any significant dietary changes can affect overall treatment effectiveness.
