Can Allergies Cause Headaches and Dizziness?

Allergies may contribute to headaches in some people, often alongside nasal congestion or disrupted sleep, but headache can have many causes. Evidence does not support a precise percentage for how often allergies cause headaches. Allergy-related congestion may sometimes be associated with ear pressure or balance symptoms, but dizziness has many possible causes and is not always due to fluid in the inner ear. Histamine release during allergic reactions can also dilate blood vessels, contributing to headache pain. Common nasal-allergy triggers include seasonal pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. Nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, and disrupted sleep from breathing difficulties may worsen headache and dizziness symptoms. Food allergies are different from nasal allergies and can cause symptoms beyond the nose, including potentially severe reactions.
