What Causes Pain During Ejaculation?

Pain during ejaculation typically results from inflammation in the prostate, urethra, or seminal vesicles. Prostatitis affects up to 15% of men and is the leading cause of painful ejaculation. Urethritis from bacterial infections or sexually transmitted infections creates burning sensations during orgasm. Seminal vesicle inflammation, often linked to prostate issues, can cause deep pelvic pain. Other causes include urethral strictures, recent medical procedures, certain medications like antidepressants, and psychological factors. Chronic pelvic pain syndrome affects 2-10% of men and frequently involves ejaculatory pain. The condition may also stem from nerve damage, muscle spasms in the pelvic floor, or blockages in the ejaculatory ducts.
