Tums antacid tablets can be safely taken with omeprazole, which reduces stomach acid. They do not significantly interfere with each other, and spacing is not required. Omeprazole works best when taken on an empty stomach about 30 minutes before a meal. Tums can be used at any time for breakthrough heartburn. If you need frequent antacids despite daily omeprazole, a healthcare professional can help evaluate whether your treatment plan needs adjustment.
